Welcome to Children’s Services and Outreach. In this department of the Warren County Memorial Library our objective is to identify the reading skills needs of the children and young people of Warren County and to provide the resources to service those needs.
We’re Like a Learning Store
In a very real sense our Children’s Services Department is like a free store that provides reading skill training, age appropriate computer training, books, videos, and in library special events for the youngest members of our community.
This department is also actively engaged in advising and counseling parents and guardians on the most suitable reading material for their child. In the Warren County Memorial Children’s Services Department we make it fun to learn.
All of our reading labs and special events throughout the year are designed to keep the children excited about reading on a consistent bases. We accomplished this by making learning fun, creative and engaging. We believe an important first step to creating a successful experience with child reading is to support the children in finding topics of interest to them. Once achieved we guide the young people to in house and online books and resources that cater to their interest.
Our child computer section is one resources that the children are most excited about . These free access computers are an incredible aid in assisting in child reading development.
All activity on these computers is supervised and all high risk and questionable content sites are blocked. Here the children learn necessary computer skills in a fun and engaging manner.
Computer activity is all age sensitive, so feel free to visit us with your child regardless to their age There are many programs that are planned by this department and we invite you to come back to this page often to review all of our scheduled events. If you have any questions please feel free to call Mary Bullock at 252.257.4990 .
