“Stuart Little At The Farm”    Author:  Susan Hill

Rating:  9 Stars

This book is about Stuart Little the mouse and George his brother who go to the amusement park.  They have lots of fun playing games, riding rides and ponies and going to the fun house.  The fun house had mirrors that made them look funny.  I saw a fun-filled event that consists of all types of activities even funny mirrors that brought out humor that was unreal.  I found that reading a book of this nature allows you to actually travel with the author and feel as though you were there in person.  I could imagine I was there myself.

“Clifford and the Parade”    Author:  Norman Bridwell

Rating:  8 Stars

This book is about a big red dog name Clifford who did not know what he wanted to be in the Halloween Parade. Clifford sees a cat, rat and bat.  Finally, a boy and a girl bring a hose, ladder, raincoat, boots and lights that flash.  Clifford is a fire engine and the boy and the girls are fire fighters.  My impression of the book is that it was very interesting and it lets you know that animals have to make tough decisions in their life, also.  But after much careful thinking, thinks fall in place for Clifford and the children.   I recommend this book to all ages.

“Fast Food Nation”    Author:  Eric Schlosser

Rating:  7 Stars

This book tells about fast food and how it is made.  It was very disturbing, especially the making of McNuggets are made.  This is good awareness not to take anything for granted and to be very careful where you eat.  Preparing your own meals is the best way to go.  Good advice to young and old.

“Cybele’s Secret”    Author:   Juliet Marillier

“Ash”    Author:   Malinda Lo

Rating:  8 Stars

This book has its own version of Cinderella that was a wonderful fantasy.  However, the ending spoiled everything for me after the character Ash marries a lady from the princes court.  This is a true example of life and a good teaching tool.

“The Deeding of Lana Morri”    Author:   Launa Tom McNeal

“How To Build A House”    Author:   Dana Reinhandt

Rating:  7 Stars

This is a book about a girl seeking escape from her troubles.  I feel as though this book could have been quite helpful providing the author had ended it with Harper as a Christian.  This sounds like a very good book that you yourself could end it just so.  Highly recommended.

Summer Reader

“ME The Missing and the Dead”    Author:   Jenny Valentine

The topic and the contents are not in common but has a satisfying ending.  This book was hard to follow.  Need to be a good reader with lots of comprehension.

“I Coriander”    Author:   Sally Gardender

A historical seeting enhances the setting to this fantasy.  Very interestingly written.  For a fantasy, it was carefully written.  You need a lot of imagination.

“Absolute Brightness”    Author:  James Lecesne

Rating:  8 Stars

Phoebe learns about judgement.  Her cousins who she considers weird and needs to be avoided ends up affecting her whole family.  She gets involved with a murderer and speeds toward the bittersweet ending of the book.  My impression of the book is that any decision you make in life whether it be good or bad will effect the whole family, therefore, try to make good decisions.  This book can be applied to your whole life and learn by it.  I truly recommend this book for all ages.

“Raven’s Gate”    Author:   Anthony Horowitz

Rating:  5 Stars

This book is about Matt, a troublemaker who doesn’t really do bad things.  On one case he is almost sent to jail but the government gives him a second chance.  He lives with a woman named Ms. Deverell and he starts to find the place very creepy.  Good book.

Robert Davie

“The Sun Also Rises”    Author:   Ernest Hemingway

Rating:  6 Stars

This book about a group of friends and ex-patriots and possibly misfits living in France who decide to go running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.  This story of idiosyncratic friends includes humorous but real love pursuits while at the same time anecdotes of fatal flaws in human nature.  I felt as if the book represented part of the life of Hemingway himself.

Hillary Frazier

“L.A. Candy”    Author:   Lauren Conrad

Rating:  9 Stars

This book is about best friends, Jane and Scarlett who live together in an apartment in L.A.  Jane wants to be pushed out of her comfort zone and Scarlett is starting school at UCLA.  The two girls go to a club one night and meet a producer named Trevor who is looking for girls to star in his new reality show, “L.A. Candy”.  Jane and Scarlett along with two other girls, Madison and Gaby have camera men following them around almost 24/7 video taping their daily lives.  Little do the girls know that there is a lot more to the show than they bargained for. When I first read L.A. Candy it captured my attention but it wasn’t until about the last 150 pages that I couldn’t stop reading it.  This book is filled with drama, friendship, love, backstabbers and lots of fame.  I can’t wait until I get the second book.  The only thing that maybe could have been better would have been it the chapters weren’t so small, like 3 pages, and the ending didn’t “leave you hanging”.  Of course, Lauren knew what she was doing with that because I’m dying to read the next book.  General Comments:  Love, Love, Love, Love!
